Ficus Retusa Bonsai – An Excellent Living Room Accent
Loving bonsai as I do, it can be difficult to promote them as a mere décor accent, but at some level I understand that a lot more people are interested in décor than will ever be interested in Bonsai. And the simple fact is that if you’re looking for a dramatic accent for the right room, as long as you can provide good growing conditions a bonsai suits the purpose admirably. Take for example a 26 inch tall Ficus Retusa with a curved trunk.
First, you need to wrap your head around the scale, because at 26 inches – over two feet tall, this is not like the bonsai you might have seen in your local grocery store. This bonsai tree has presence and when you place it as a focal point in your living room or entrance hall, this tree will add an exotic breath of life to that spot. The curved trunk is a particularly nice feature of this Ficus that is also referred to as a Banyan Fig and sometimes the Tiger Bark Fig – a name it takes from the dark, flecks or stripes that you can see on the bark of a mature specimen. This tree, by the way is about 30 years old.
